November

By now I am sure you have seen AR rings in the hall.  AR stands for accelerated reader.  Students read books independently and take a short test on the computer which checks for comprehension.  Until students are ready to read the test alone I read it to them and they use the smart board to do the test.  The first marking period does not require kindergarten students to have AR points; however, in the second marking period students need to earn 3 points or 6 books.  If students pass a test they earn a ring in the hall.  They need a 60% or better to receive any points.  They now need 5 tests in which they must score a 100% to earn a Pizza Hut pizza or Chilis dinner.  Congrats to Lucy as she earned a prize out of the treasure chest and 50 points worth of fuzzies for having the highest AR points in the class for the first marking period!!  Way to go!!
