Elf on the Shelf

On the day Snowflake arrived he was sitting on our smart board with a present!  He brought us the Elf on the Shelf book.

Snowflake wrote a note to the girls for having such a good day the previous day!

The girls held their candy canes from Snowflake all day long :)

He drew a picture later in the day while we were at recess!

Reading!

He got stuck when he was adding lights around our room

Violet found a gift on the second day from Snowflake.  The Elf on the Shelf DVD!

We wrote about what Snowflake did each day during December.  We are now writing 4 sentences each day.  In January, we will start writing 5 sentences!!

Playing sight word Candyland with all his friends!

 Snowball fight!

Snowflake left us the recipe on how to make reindeer food so we learned how to make it!
Don't forget to sprinkle it around your lawn tonight!!

The LAST day Snowflake was at school, the 1/2 grade and 3/4 grade elves joined Snowflake and had a snowball fight in the hall.  Take a look at the mess they left us to clean up!!

Hunter reading the note Snowflake wrote!  He explained Santa let the elves stay over night at the school.  Apparently, the elves were on the PA system singing (so we were told by Mrs. Keller)

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Thanksgiving & Christmas

Thanksgiving

During November, we learned about Native Americans.  We made necklaces with beads and headbands with patterns (we learned the more feathers they had on their head dresses, the more important they were)

We learned about the Mayflower and Plymouth Plantation.  We wrote about what we would take with us if we went on the Mayflower.

Reindeer

We learned about reindeer last week.  We learned the parts of a reindeer using a brace map, we read reindeer books, and we made our own reindeer book with facts we learned.  The sentences were scambled up and we worked together to get them in the right order.  The kids did GREAT with this!

Identifying the parts of a reindeer!

We came up with new reindeer names!!!  Here is their writing (which is in the hallway).  We made reindeer and their hooves are holding our writings!

Social Studies/Religion: Christmas Around the World

Religion: The First Christmas

If you haven't heard (which I am sure you haven't ;)  haha) each kiddo wrote a letter to Santa asking if he would send us an Elf!!!  Well, we were lucky enough to be chosen!  The kiddos must have done a good job persuading Santa!!  Our elfs name is Snowflake!!  I will be posting where we have found him soon!

In Kid Writing, we are now writing 4 sentences.  This month we are writing in our Elf on the Shelf journals!  We are writing where we find Snowflake each day and what we find him doing!

We have started learning how others around the world celebrate Christmas!  We are finding out other people in other countries celebrate just like we do and they celebrate Jesus' birth too!!

We are also learning about the First Christmas!  We are making books to show the story!  We learned how an angel told Mary she was going to have a son and his name would be Jesus!!

Tomorrow we are having our GRINCH DAY!!  Check back SOON for more Christmas fun!

I have submitted 2 pictures of our class to channel 5 (WTAJ) for school matters.  They said they never got the pictures before so I resent them and they should be on soon, fingers crossed!  The segment is usually on around 6:40-6:50!
